Ven. Ariyawantha's Monastery in Guwahati, Assam, India
Reconstruction Began in December 2021
Ven. Ariyawantha, a Burmese/Rakhine monk who studied at Nalanda MahaVihara in Bihar and previously stayed at Bodhisukha Monastery in Kolkata, is now living near Guwahati, the capital of Assam in Northwest India. For several years, he has resided in a small remote mountain village. The villagers greatly respect him for his erudition, kindness, and teaching. He has been staying in a dilapidated monastery. His one-room kuti has no proper toilet, no water supply, and no electricity. He would like to improve the monastery and make it more comfortable, not only for himself, but for the devotees when they come to visit.
